Rendering Software

What happens when you apply the rendering pipeline -- light, materials, physics, atmosphere -- to software interfaces?

Drag the light. Open the Atelier (Ctrl+K). Scroll to discover.

Every element is a flat surface. Light creates shadows on one side, highlights on the other.

Ambient Intelligence

Designing environments that anticipate needs through contextual awareness and adaptive interfaces.

Design Systems AI/ML

Parametric Typography

Variable font systems that respond to user context, creating fluid reading experiences across devices.

Typography Motion

Spatial Computing

Bridging physical and digital realms with depth-aware interfaces that understand three-dimensional space.

XR 3D Spatial

Neural Interfaces

Direct cognitive input bridges the gap between thought and screen, making interaction feel effortless.

BCI Cognition

Material is the physics of reflection. Texture is the tactile surface pattern. Combine them to create any real-world surface.

Frosted Glass Panel

Translucent with backdrop blur. Light passes through and scatters at the edges. The defining material of modern UI.

glass glass texture
Brushed Steel

Directional striations scatter highlights into an anisotropic band. The grain rotates with the light angle.

metallic brushed texture
Polished Chrome

Mirror-smooth. Near-zero roughness creates a pin-sharp specular hotspot. Multi-band gradient simulates environment reflection.

chrome no texture
Raw Concrete

High roughness absorbs light. Heavy grain texture. Bump adds visible 3D relief. Brutalist in spirit.

matte concrete texture
Linen Cardstock

Fine crosshatch weave. Subsurface scattering lets warm light bleed through. Warm and tactile, like a letterpress print.

paper linen texture SSS
Glazed Ceramic

Smooth glaze with warm specular. Convex curvature makes the highlight roll across the surface. Subtle subsurface warmth.

ceramic glass texture convex
Velvet Upholstery

Almost no specular. Light catches only the rim — the signature of napped fabric. Deep, rich, absorptive.

velvet linen texture
Glossy Lacquer

Clean, smooth, reflective. The default UI surface. Tight highlight with gentle top-to-bottom sheen.

glossy no texture convex
Weathered Paper

Soft fibrous noise with high bump relief. Absorbs light completely — no specular, all texture.

Material + Texture = Surface

Material is the shader — how light reflects. Glossy gets tight highlights; matte absorbs; chrome mirrors. Texture is the surface pattern — linen weave, concrete grain, brushed striations. Roughness widens the specular. Bump adds relief depth. Combine them freely. Press I to inspect and edit any card.

Surfaces aren't flat planes. Curvature changes how light moves across them.

Flat

Default plane. Highlight stationary.

Convex

Raised surface. Highlight rolls across.

Beveled

Chamfered edges catch the light.

EV
Sphere Normal
Highlight wraps around the surface

Cylindrical

A horizontal specular band slides along the surface.

Surfaces reflect the world around them -- an abstract gradient environment that shifts as you scroll.

Glass

Environment gradient visible through the surface. Shifts with scroll position and light angle.

Chrome

Mirror-like reflection. The brightest material -- maximum specularity, near-zero roughness.

Light doesn't just bounce -- it passes through. Subsurface scattering and caustics.

Objects have mass and respond to forces. Gravity, springs, deformation, emergence.

Gravity

Switch gravity direction in the Atelier. Cards settle with spring-damped physics.

Springs

Cards in the same group are connected by invisible spring constraints.

Deformation

Hover to indent the surface. Cards respond to cursor pressure.

Simulation Modes

Elements exhibit emergent behavior. Try each mode in the Atelier.

Passive Breathe Swarm Scatter Orbit

Lighting is storytelling. Six presets, one UI.

Golden Hour

Warm, low-angle, atmospheric. The golden hour of software.

Midnight

Cool directional overhead. High contrast studio.

Dramatic

Single harsh spot. Deep shadows. Theatrical.

Overcast

Flat ambient. Even illumination. No shadows.

Neon

Vibrant colored light. Heavy bloom. Electric.

Candlelight

Intimate warm point. Flickering. Close.

The final pass. Color grading, chromatic aberration, bloom, vignette.

"Every frame is a photograph. Post-processing is the darkroom -- where mood becomes deliberate." -- On post-processing, internal notes

Color Grading

Shift the entire page toward warm, cool, cinematic, or noir. Five presets in the Post tab.

Chromatic Aberration

Subtle RGB channel separation at viewport edges. Real lens imperfection.

All post-processing effects apply to the entire viewport via CSS filters and SVG primitives.
Global bloom creates cross-element light bleed -- more physical than per-element bloom.

Every parameter, tunable. Every concept, composable.

Five visual personalities. One CSS property system.

Surface

Eight materials. Roughness, bump, texture.

Depth

Focus plane, parallax, atmospheric perspective.
